about
This song came about upon meeting WI Climate Ambassador, Maureen O'Grady and being asked to write a song to support her work in getting Plastic-Free status for the city of Chichester. Originally it was for a performance at a plastic-free picnic but the song took on a life of its own.
We hope it might make you stop and think about how you shop and chnge your relationship to single use plastics.
lyrics
PLASTIC NO
It used to be Plastic Fantastic,
Now it's out of control.
The landfill's full and the Ocean's a dying soul.....
So think; what is it to be human
Then stop being blind,
It's time to decide, will you be a human - Kind?
We are guardians upon this Earth,
We all make a difference, for what it's worth
So if we all do a little then a lot can be achieved,
Be a sister, be a brother and consider the greater need.
We've got to stop single-use plastics,
They're bringing life to its knees,
Do you really wanna live in a world of fake plastic trees?
And what will we tell our children,
And what kind of world will we leave?
Wading through fake plastic jelly fish in fake plastic seas.
So be a guardian of this land,
And do everything that you can
'Cos if we all do a little then a lot can be achieved,
Be a sister, a brother, consider the greater need.
And if you're still putting bananas and oranges into little plastic bags
You'll have to admit that you are mad, quite mad!
It's these little actions we've got to stop .....
Demand a lot less plastic when you shop.
It's getting far too late to prevaricate,
We've got to act while we still can!
It's time to stand up and put it to the man,
Demand a single use plastic ban!
